MIA | EDI Visionary Award

The TV series project Woodland wins the MIA | EDI Visionary Award. Special mentions to the Italian Beatrice Cenci and Venice Rising.

Milan, October 23 2017 – The MIA | EDI Visionary Award was presented during the official award ceremony of MIA, the International Audiovisual Market scheduled in Rome. The recognition promoted by EDI Italian Digital Effects, to reward the film project , either documentary or TV series that promises the greatest innovative capacity in narration through an excellent use of visual effects.

The winning project, entitled Woodland (Fiction Factory and Awesome), is a supernatural thriller TV series, set between Wales and the United States, created by Canadian writer and producer Jeff Norton. The prize worth 15,000 euros in post-production and VFX work was delivered by the founding partner of EDI, Francesco Grisi. The Visionary Award jury also decided to award two special mentions to two Italian period drama TV series projects that present themselves as highly innovative in terms of language: Beatrice Cenci, created by Paola Randi (Tangram Film and Isaria Production), and Venice Rising, created by Pietro Seghetti (Pepito Productions). The special mentions consist of VFX works for a value of 5 thousand euros to be used in the development phase to create a presentation teaser.

Jeff Norton, creator of Woodland says: “Receiving the Visionary Award is a great honor for me, especially since EDI is a leading company in visual effects and in the creation of visionary and breathtaking images”.

Francesco Grisi says: “The Visionary Award is a message we want to give to authors and producers: think big, because we are able to realize all your visions”.
