The 2D department is a division within a film production that deals with the creation of two-dimensional elements. It consists of artists, technicians, and supervisors who work together to create high-quality visual elements and is divided into the areas of compositing, matte painting and motion graphics.
Compositing is used in film production that allows different visual elements, such as, images, special effects, animations, and backgrounds, to be combined to create a final composite image.
Matte Painting is a technique of creating realistic elements that can replace live-action elements and/or enhance existing live action footage in films. It is applied to different types of content such as live-action footage, digital photography, CG elements and digital painting.
Motion graphics is a graphic animation technique used to create visual effects and animations that give the impression of motion. It combines elements of graphic design, animation, video and audio to create an immersive visual experience. It can be used to create headlines, transition sequences, logo animations, data visualizations and more. Today, motion graphics also makes use of 3D techniques so that the experience of the effects created is even more interesting and spectacular. Because to open the doors of creativity, you need the right keys.
The key aspect of creating an effect? Knowing how to imagine it even before you make it. This is the mantra that has led us to improve the quality of our work more and more. Over these two decades then we have structured a proprietary pipeline, as well as a multi-software and multi-platform system.
In this department, various types of tasks are completed and medium-level shots or assets are managed independently.
It consists of creating the skeletons and muscle systems to replicate the anatomy of the creatures. Controls for the animation department are also defined here.
Creation of digital assets for all projects. Tasks are related to organic and hard surface models, digital double, environment and shot sculpting.
Inorganic creatures and assets are brought to life here.
Creating textures and shaders, as well as researching and developing the final look for all assets in the CG department.
Creating lighting set ups of 3D scenes to ensure seamless integration of CG elements. Photography management of full CG shots tasked with interpreting moodboard, concept or photography of a given sequence.
Creation of CG cameras, rough layouts for initial interpretation of the shot and final setup of 3D scenes.
The Digital Lab department is in charge of project preparation and management. It all starts with the acquisition of material, then moves on to the creation of the necessary elements and the organization of VFX projects, VFX compositing and review. Finally, we get to the finalization, mastering and delivery stage for the various distribution channels (cinema, web…) and other vendors.
This is where the ingesting of material happens, file conversions for the editing, video editing, preparation of projects for VFX and quality control of VFX takes place. In the studio you work on reviews with directors and supervisors, pointing out irregularities or misalignments of equipment. It is hard work, but someone has to accomplish it.
It is the phase of audio/video alignment of files, delivery and export of masters to different platforms and vendors (Cinema, TV, Web…) and check on the produced files.
He handles the finalization of advertising, television and film works at the level of compositing, adding the underbelly, packshots, graphics and reels in order to deliver the finished product. We have written so many great names, we hope yours will be next!
If it involves some physics or simulations, then we of the FX department enter into action. Explosions, rain, snow, plants and entire crowds are our work, obviously also together with the work of other departments interested in processing digital content. Useless to say, the level of knowledge needed to have is vast, but we like it that way.

In this department, in fact, we take care of filming on LED walls where animated contributions or environments generated in real-time 3D are projected.
