EDI Italian digital effects in the running for the Golden Globe Awards with the films of Virzì and Gracey

Milan, December 18 2017 – EDI Effetti Digitali Italiani, a post-production and visual effects company for cinema and advertising, worked on the post-production of two cinematic masterpieces in the running for the 75th edition of the Golden Globe Awards.

Ella & John – The Leisure Seeker, a film by Paolo Virzì which will be released in Italian cinemas in January, already winner of the Leoncino d’Oro Agis Scuola at the Venice Film Festival, and The Greatest Showman by Michael Gracey, whose release in Italy is scheduled for Christmas day.

The intervention of EDI Italian Digital Effects was significant: for the first film, the post-production and visual effects company worked on about a hundred shots in camera car and set extension, reconstructing the backgrounds and reflections of the American streets that the two characters travel in the film. For The Greatest Showman, however, EDI was mainly concerned with removing anachronistic elements for a film set in the mid-1800s; the Italian company has also eliminated supports and cables which on the set allowed the actors to perform spectacular actions in total safety, such as aerial exercises with trapeze and hoop or the wader.
