Plot. This story follows the adventures of Aldo, John and James, three inseparable friends who have formed a bowling team, The Charlatans. Aldo, although an excellent cook, is a deadbeat kept by his girlfriend Monica and spends what little money he has at horse races. When in order to pay off a gambling debt he comes to sell a valuable object belonging to the companion's grandmother, she kicks him out. He is forced to move in with Giacomo, a surgeon now longtime widower, who cannot, however, forget his wife Aurora. Giovanni, finally, is a veterinarian married to Marta , but about to get married to his mistress. On Christmas night, the three are arrested in an apartment in which a a robbery. Waiting for them at police headquarters is Commissioner Irene Bestetti, who accuses them of being part of the notorious Band of Santas, which has already emptied eight houses in the last week. They, of course, say they are innocent and try to explain how they found themselves there at that very moment...
